Google Classroom SMS Automation
Boost on-time assignment submissions by using automatic SMS reminders that notify students before deadlines.
What This Automation Does
This automation helps you remind learners about upcoming assignment deadlines so more work is submitted on time. It reduces last-minute scrambling and gives students a clear nudge to take action before the due date.
How It Works
When an assignment deadline is approaching, the contact is created or updated in ActiveCampaign. The system adds an assignment-reminder tag, starts a reminder automation, and sends an SMS reminder. If the assignment is submitted, a completion tag is added; if not, a final reminder SMS is sent to encourage submission.
Automation Table
| Step | What Happens | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | An assignment deadline approaching triggers the automation | Ensures reminders go out at the right time |
| 2 | The contact is created or updated in ActiveCampaign | Keeps your contact list accurate and up to date |
| 3 | An assignment-reminder tag is added to the contact | Helps you track who is in the reminder process |
| 4 | The reminder automation is started | Keeps follow-ups consistent without manual work |
| 5 | An SMS reminder is sent about the upcoming deadline | Prompts students to submit before it’s too late |
| 6 | If submitted, a completion tag is applied | Confirms completion and supports simple reporting |
| 7 | If not submitted, a final reminder SMS is sent | Provides one last nudge to increase on-time submission |
